The Aspirin-Guide app, developed by researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, is a valuable tool for clinicians seeking guidance on the use of low-dose aspirin (75 to 100 mg/d) in the primary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). This app assists clinicians in weighing the potential ASCVD benefits against the risk of harm, such as gastrointestinal (GI) or other bleeding.

One of the standout features of the Aspirin-Guide app is its ability to calculate a 10-year cardiovascular disease risk score for patients, including heart disease and stroke. It also offers the convenience of emailing a summary of the decision-making process to the patient.

Additionally, Aspirin-Guide takes into account the patient's specific risk factors to compute a 10-year ASCVD risk score using the ACC/AHA ASCVD score, as well as a bleeding risk score. This allows clinicians to align their practice with clinical guidelines regarding aspirin use in primary prevention.

It's important to note that research on aspirin in primary prevention is limited for individuals below the age of 50 or above the age of 70.

An online version of Aspirin-Guide is also accessible at www.aspiringuide.com, allowing users to access it conveniently from any computer or smartphone.
